- I cannot get any of the standard pd/shareware tcp programs*
- to work with MS new vxd driver -- unless I load WS_GMAIL SMTP
- Listener first then they all work fine.
-
- *Mosaic, qws3270, ws_ftp, ws_ping, wsarchie
-
- I've been running trumpet for some time with no problems
-
- Any suggesting would be appreciated

- My mistake (sort of).
- In my previous posting:

- I had WS_GMAIL in a separate directory
- from all the other program tcp apps. They were in the same directory
- as trumpet, they all tryed to load trumpet and of course
- failed because I had disabled it. Removing trumpet
- from my tcpapps dir allowed all the above programs
- to run fine with out loading ws_gmail.
-
- It seems to me these apps should have checked to see
- if Sockets was available before loading trumpet.

- OK, here we go, Internet 101.
-
- There is NO SUCH THING AS A "MOSAIC CLIENT", Mosaic is a WWW [World Wide Web]
- client... as is LYNX and CELLO.
-
- I hope this helps. The net is getting bigger, and sucking in many people, so
- pass the word.

-
- questions :
-
- -the slip server will return a dynamic ip address, and I changed

- -Is there a unix command that I can use to find out which is

- -Is there a way for me to find out the default gateway ip address ?
- -When I tried to display an xterm from (dale.ucdavis.edu

- Xlib: Client is not authorized to connect to server

-
- is there anything I need to do the the hosts file that

-
- The current 1.4 version of Eudora calls WSAStartup() and WSACleanup() once
- per session. I've fixed this in the current commercial version of Eudora,
- which calls the two functions for each connection.
-
- It appears that the Trumpet WinSock waits for the WSACleanup() call before
- it hangs up the modem. It should probably hangup the modem after a certain
- period of idle time even if WSACleanup() hasn't been called, just to be a
- little more robust.
